1940s Emerald Green Velvet Dress

Sold Out

Product Details

This emerald green velvet dress has sheer mesh across the collar bone and in draped panels over the shoulders. Nicely gathered skirt has faux peplum sashes at the back of the waist. This dress was likely used as a costume by a theater program, it has been altered and does have flaws: A few small pinholes in the bodice mesh (it is still quite strong), two small holes in the velvet under the right arm, a hole in the velvet under the right arm, a zipper was added to the left side, the bottom of the zipper is a bit loose, a repair to a tear in the skirt (looks like old heat tape?), dress has been taken in, gauntlets do not appear to be original to the dress (they probably removed sleeves) or have been heavily altered. They need new elastic. There may be other small flaws that I have missed.

It is tough to determine the original age, but my best guess is 1930s. Would be a nice addition to a theater program, for use as a costume, LARP, etc. Overall this dress is in solid, wearable condition. and presents beautifully.
