1940s Glamorous Black Silk Dressing with Rainbow Plaid Panel

Sold Out

Product Details

This is an extraordinary piece! Fine black faille gown, dolman sleeves, fitted waist, three quarter sleeves and a very full, floor length skirt. The skirt has a large section in the front of sharkskin shadow plaid in multiple colors. Starting at the waist the plaid panels are pleated into the skirt and have gorgeous pattern matching to create a chevron design down the front. The wide collar has matching plaid underneath. Metal talon zip up the front. The textile is not marked, but I did do a burn test (to the black only) and it tests as silk. There is a water mark to the bottom left of the plaid panel, about 11" long and 1.5" wide at its widest point. This is directly along the hem and could be eliminated by taking the gown up. I have not had it cleaned, it may come out with cleaning as well. It is not obvious and does not affect the look or wearability of this piece. I have numerous images of this piece available, let me know if you would like to see them!
